Grand Cru Pfingstberg
Locality : Orschwihr
Presentation
The Pfingstberg slope dominates the pretty little valley
in which nestles Orschwihr. The upper part of the Pfingstberg
is located on a chalky sandstone and micas sandstone substratum
(Muschelkalk at the bottom and Bunstandien at the top).
Soil
A mere clay sandstone texture appears in the lower part.
This geological particularity has given rise to 2 distinct
names: Pfingstberg and Lippelsberg. In places, the very
steep slope has necessitated the construction of terraces,
consolidated by sandstone walls.
Particularity
Pfingstberg wines show great typicity, with very floral
aromas. Riesling reaches its plenitude after three or
four year bottle. They are wines which age very well.
Altitude: 250 to 350 m - Surface: 28,15
hectares
